Shelters

Shelters. There are many different shelters in Charlotte.  Would you answer some quick yes or no questions so we can take you to the best shelter for your situation?
Otherwise, just review the list below.

All of them are overflowing or have a waiting list. Choose the right kind of shelter (below) and you will get into a shelter faster. If you suspect you have a substance abuse problem or mental health issues, be totally honest with yourself about that. In my opinion, those shelters are a little easier to get into; but you have to want a change.
Just tap on the type of shelter you need.

Day Shelters This is the type of shelter you can go to only during the day. It's usually from 9a ~ 5p. With any luck you'll find a meal here and hopefully a Case Manager who can help you get back on your feet
Emergency Shelters These shelters are equipped to help you stay overnight.

Transitional Shelters These shelters are set up to enroll you in their program for more than an overnight stay. They cannot help you find housing "tonight"
Medical Shelters If you or one of your family are under medical care these shelters can temporarily shelter you
Maternity Shelters They will help mothers-to-be or mothers with newborn on a temporary basis
Domestic Violence If you are a woman fleeing a domestic violence situation they can safely house you until you can stand on your own
Substance Abuse & Mental Health If you're committed to making a change they will help you. Even if you're "high functioning" your problems could be keeping you from employment and a happy life

Permanent  These organizations will help you find permanent low-income housing
